New year, new excuses
Friday, February 1
Its been an age since I've updated this site, apologies but time has totally flown. Things are all good, coming up to my first year at Dare (how time flies). I've updated my folio with some work and made a few minor tweaks here and there.
Its been a while since I've posted some links so I highly recommend checking out the illustrations of Russ Mills, the photography of MK Wickens, the latest issue of Candy Collective, the various new brand identities over at Brand New as well as the weird and wonderful Naomisms.
I will be with you shortly
Sunday, November 4
Update is on the way...
Blast from the past
Wednesday, April 4
It’s been a while, my apologies to anyone who passed by over the past few months and saw a distinct lack of updates. Things are going quite well and my lack of updates is mainly due to having no internet at home and being somewhat busy.
Still I have good news to report on the employment front, after being inhouse for the past two years I finally managed to escape/leave Media Initiatives Group and start work at a design agency just across the road. The company in question is Dare and I contacted them back in December after they moved into their new shiny premises just across the road. I met the Creative Directors, talked about my work, was offered a role and started there in February.
At the moment I’m mainly working on Vodafone which is a welcome change from the somewhat do-it-now-do-it-quick mentality of my old place. I do miss some of the people there, and it was a great place to work, but design was more of a support to the main business rather then the main business itself, which makes sense as it was a media sales house and not a design agency. Still it did mean that I felt somewhat wasted and never had a chance to do real, engrossing work. It’s great to be working with other designers and have the whole agency structure of producers and planners and so forth which allows me to just focus on my design work and my design work alone.
It took a while and a lot of interviews for a lot of companies (highlights included Akqa, Radley Yelder, Think Jam (who just launched a new site), Ogilvy, Good Technology and Rehab Studios) but I got there in the end.
Links wise some mentions have to go to the great news site collector Popurls, some great design work over at Anti Magazine as well as Vandal which is a great example of the one page site.
